Workshop for the drawing up of SCPs

Context
"Museums at the service of development"-MSD is a programme elaborated by EPA, and financed by the FSP (Fonds de solidarité prioritaire) of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support the development of museums and related institutions, whether public, private or communitarian in order that they become true actors in the educational, cultural, social and economical life in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The workshop which launched the programme in Porto-Novo in February as well as the regional technical meetings (Central and West Africa) gave particular emphasis on the difficulties which many colleagues have in drawing up a scientific and cultural project (SCP) for their institutions. Because of this, many museums do not have this strategic tool for their institutional development absolutely necessary for any heritage institution.
This situation has been one of the major weaknesses found in the projects submitted to the first session of the International Committee for the selection of MSD projects.
To find a solution to this problem and to answer to the wishes expressed by many directors, EPA is organising two technical workshops for some heads of heritage institutions to give them the opportunity of giving their institution an SCP.

Objective
Give technical support to participating museums in view of finalising their scientific and cultural projects (SCPs).

Participants
About thirty heads and representatives of museums of Central and West Africa who are in the process of drawing up their scientific and cultural projects (SCP).

Expected results
- A better mastery by participants of techniques to draw up scientific and cultural projects (SCP)
- Enriched and improved scientific and cultural projects of participating institutions.
