EPA Fund
Since 2001, EPA is self financed which is a real challenge for an African cultural institution. To support EPA in this mission ICCROM created an endowment fund: the EPA Fund with the purpose of permitting EPA to cover its operating expenses. The EPA Endowment Fund has received the High Patronage of nine eminent public figures who have embarked on the safeguard of African cultural heritage.
Donations received follow those made for the PREMA 1990-2000 programme during the 14 years of its existence. €6 900 000 were collected from 21 partners at that time.
In 11 years, 2,484,204 euros have been gathered in the EPA Fund, with contributions coming from 23 countries, foundations, international organizations, private organizations and individuals.
In order for the interest earned by the EPA Fund to cover at least 50 % of the operating budget, a resolution was passed by the Member States of ICCROM at its 26th General Assembly in November 2009. It instructed ICCROM to start a new fundraising campaign to increase the EPA trust fund to 3 million euros.
The Ministry of Culture of Luxembourg, the Annenberg Weingarten and Heydar Aliyev Foundation have already responded positively to this call donating a total of 97,000 euros.
The objective of the current campaign : raise 565,800 euros in five years.
