Singbo. Entrance to Guézo's palace
|
Singbo, meaning literally a storied house, specifically designates the Honnouwa of Guézo's palace.
Guézo's Singbo is constructed on
the Singbodji Square reserved at that time for important royal festivals and for public meetings.
This architecture, executed in quite an uncommon style within the palace compound, is two storeys high and is inspired by European art. It is a replica of the residence belonging to Francisco de Souza, the slave trader and friend of King Guézo. The singbo was restored in 1995.
