Guézo Jalalahènnou

Palace
The second interior courtyard with its various buildings can be found after crossing the Logodo. It contains:
  • the Boho, a hut protecting supernatural powers.
  • Ajalalathe Jèho is a temple made up of two circular sacred buildings. They were built by King Glèlè who often came here to meditate and enter into communion with his father in the Beyond. For conservation purposes, the buildings have recently been covered by an oval construction with a very low roof and narrow entrance.
  • the Zinkpoho, exhibition room for the royal thrones.
  • the Ajalala, a building richly decorated with elephants and many other bas-reliefs recounting the marvellous deeds of Guézo's reign. Restored in 1986.
